31 Weeks Merry Christmas!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Wow, this year went by so fast. Christmas was great this year, we got to see a lot of family and spend quality time with everyone. It was so great. Evereyone kept reminding us that next year we will have Sabrina to share it with. I can't believe it.

I am 31 weeks pregnant now. Here is what we have been up to.
We have gradually worked on Decorating Sabrina's room over the past few months and I would say it is ALL DONE now. Arturo did an amazing job on the painting and chair rail, and I had so much fun decorating and putting in all the girly touches, it realy was a team effort. We could not imagine it turning out any better! Sabrina is one lucky girl if you ask me, I hope she loves her beautiful room!

Mom put together and mailed my baby shower invitations, and the shower will be on January 15th, so over the next few weeks we will be gearing up for that. I cant wait to see what her any my sisters put together, I'm sure it will be fabulous! The shower will be at our house, which works out well because everyone can come see Sabrina's room.

Last week I signed us up for some classes at the hospital to help us learn more about parenthood, caring for the baby, and breastfeeding. I still need to decide on a day and time for us to take our tour of the maternity wing and get pre-registered. Hopefully it is something we can do on a weekend. Perhaps I should call tomorrow to schedule that. I keep forgetting that February will sneak up on us really soon here.

My back pain has been better these days with a LOT of help from Arturo, he has been doing a lot around the house and reminding me to take it easy. My doctor also advised me to try not wearing high heels so much, because as of my last appointment with him I was still wearing my 3 and 4 inch heels every day. So I had the perfect excuse to go shoe shopping! The lower heeled shoes have really saved my back and with less back pain, I am usually in a better mood these days. ha ha

One new symptom I have been experiencing is hot flashes. I am always HOT! So needless to say our heating bill this winter has not been very high, I am running around in cotton dresses most of the time to stay cool. Pants are the worst, I start sweating so bad if my legs cant breathe.

I now visit the doctor every 2 weeks now. So I will see the doctor again this week, on Thursday. I will keep seeing him every 2 weeks through the end of January, then once a week in February until Sabrina is born.

That is about it for now. If I manage to feel up to it later tonight I will try to take some pictures of Sabrina's room and post them later.
For now here is a Christmas picture of Arturo and Me (and Sabrina, in my belly!)

28 Weeks! Hello 3rd Trimester and Hello Belly!

Wow, I had to recount today and realized I am 28 weeks now! Which means I have officially begun my 3rd trimester, the home stretch!

Thanksgiving was GREAT we got to spend time with our wonderful families and see people we don't see so often. I don't know if it was all the turkey I ate or this baby just started another growth spurt, but man has my belly popped! We went to my company holiday party tonight and I had Arturo take a picture of me in my dress before we left the house, WOW I sure am starting to look rounder!

In general I am still feeling good physically. But I am a bit more crabby these days, I try to keep myself in check though and not get too carried away with my emotions. Arturo does a good job of calming me and being just so sweet in general, it is hard to be crabby when he is around. I have developed some sciatic nerve pain and it is not fun at all. I have this constant pain in my right lower back and it radiates down my booty and thigh... it pretty much feels like someone kicked me in my butt! I have had it so easy so far, I should have known I would not get out of this pregnancy without some discomfort. I try not to think about it too much though and try convince mysself it isn't so bad, laying down helps too. Lets hope it eases up or something, otherwise it could be a long 12 more weeks.

I go back to the doctor on the 16th, and after this appoinment I will begin seeing the doctor every 2 weeks rather than monthly like I have been. Arturo and I have been looking into classes offered at the hospital to prepare for the baby's arrival and will be signing up to take those in January as well as take our tour of the maternity wing and pre-register with the hospital, to hopefully make the process much more smooth when I deliver (less paperwork)

Well it is late, and that is all I can stand to type. Goodnight
Here is the picture I promised.

26 Weeks! Lots of Fun Stuff

Wow, I almost don't know where to begin! There has been so much fun stuff going on recently.

I guess the most exciting thing is that we got to have a really cool 4-D ultrasound yesterday, this was just for fun. 4-D allows you to see the shape of your baby and all of it's features, it really is amazing, because you get to see what your baby looks like before they are born. Mom and Dad went with us as well as Arturo's Mother. They were all impressed by the advances in technology and how clear the images were. I have to be honest, I got a little emotional. My Dad and I both think she looks like me when I was a baby, I kept saying "she has my lips!" It was really cool.
Here are some pictures before I talk about anything else.

Pretty cool huh? Oh and for anyone wondering, YES, she is still a GIRL, we confirmed it yet again and got a very clear look, and we have officially named her SABRINA! (no middle name yet)

We have been doing more decorating in her room too. We purchased the bedding we wanted and put it in her crib, and also got a couple other coordinating items. And I also hand painted letters to spell her name on the wall above the crib. There isn't much else to do before I would consider the decorating done. I need to find some curtains and a lamp (those are the two major things I still want) and then some baskets to organize the shelves of the changing table, and a laundry hamper. Thats about it. I am so excited because the baby shower will be at my house so everyone will get to see the nursery all pretty and decorated.

This week I had a doctors appointment and I finally gained some weight! I gained 3 lbs, which means I have now gained back all but 1lb of what I lost in the beginning of my pregnancy. The scale will probably only go up from here now. :) I was tested for gestational diabetes and PASSED, so that was another good thing. I was honestly going to be a little sad if I had gestational diabetes around the holidays. But I am free and clear and can continue eating whatever I want (in moderation of course)

Everyone just this week started commenting on how I am finally showing so I guess that means my belly finally "popped out" too, so I guess I officially look obviously pregnant. Here are two pictures of me today that Arturo took.

24 Weeks Here I Am!

24 weeks down 16 to go.
I was sick with a cold over the weekend so while I was laying around in bed the past couple days I caught up on all of my pregnancy and baby book reading when I realized that I am inching closer to my due date! In fact, in 4 weeks I will officially begin my 3rd trimester!

I have a doctors appointment next week on the 16th when I will get tested for gestational diabetes and just have another regular check in with the doctor. As of my last appointment I had still not gained any weight, so I am interested to see what the scale says when I go on the 16th. I guess pregnancy has inspired me to eat healthier which may be why I have not gained any weight. But the doctor never seems as bothered by it as I am because the baby is growing just fine and I am having a pretty easy pregnancy.

The baby is still pretty active and I feel her moving constantly all day. She can actually move enough that when I am laying still you can see my belly move. So that is the new nightly activity for us, I lay on the couch and Arturo and I stare at my tummy watching the baby kick and punch.

Not much else has been going on these days, I just keep plugging away at work and now that Halloween is behind us, I am anticipating the holidays coming up. I cannot believe Thanksgiving will already be here in 2-3 weeks. I am really looking forward to all the family time and of course the eating! Especially since I have a pretty good excuse to eat up this year. Haha

I will leave you all with a picture of my growing belly. This was actually taken last weekend on Halloween when I was 23 weeks.

22 Weeks, Paint is all done!

So we had 2 very productive weekends and Arturo managed to get ALL of the painting in the baby's room done, and put up the chair rail. it looks FANTASTIC! Everyone I show pictures to cannot say enough about how wonderful the room turned out! Now I get to do my thing and go crazy decorating with all the accessories! All I can say is there will be lots of purple and butterflies in there when I am all done! Yesterday while at Target I picked up a mattress for the crib and a thicker pad for the changing table. It is so crazy to think a baby will be sleeping on that mattress in a few months!

Arturo is getting more and more excited about the baby coming, he goes on and on about how he cannot wait to meet her and see what she looks like. He plans to take 2 weeks of paternity leave to be with me and the baby after she is born. I am really looking forward to having some good quality family time for the three of us to really bond and get the hang of things around the house. :-)

I have been trying to get more creative in the kitchen these days. My Mom pointed out a great recipe booklet for me to pick up at the grocery store by Taste of Home, the feature this month was "Fall Freezer Meals". Meals large enough to make one batch to eat tonight and one to freeze and eat later, I have already cooked a few things from it and they are great! (and now I have a few things in the freezer to make later when I don't feel like prepping a meal) The idea behind this is that I can master these recipes now, and when I am closer to my due date I will cook up a handful and freeze them to re-heat and eat later after the baby arrives, because I am sure the last thing I will want to do is cook and we want to avoid eating out too much.

Thats all for now, here are some pictures of the finished paint job in the nursery!

Arturo practiced putting a diaper on this teddy bear! He did a pretty good job!

21 Weeks

Since we found out we are having a girl last week we have kicked into full planning/decorating mode. We picked a theme for the nursery, it will be Purple and Pink with Butterflies. (My favorite things!) and Today we bought paint and Arturo started the painting. For right now the room is completely pastel pink. Tomorrow he will tape off the bottom half of the room and paint it lavender. In the lavender, he will tape off 2 inch stripes, and when we peel it off there will be pink stripes in it. The finishing touch will be a white chair rail all around the room. Then I plan to decorate with tons of touches of purple, since it is my favorite color after all!

Now that I am officially 1/2 way through my pregnancy, a lot of things are becoming more real. Before I didn't really "feel" pregnant, or look pregnant, or anything else too exciting. Now things are getting fun! My tummy is starting to take shape, getting rounder. The baby moves all the time and I can really feel her a lot these days. She is a pretty active child already I can tell. Today Arturo and I were laying in bed in the morning and he wanted to see if he could feel her move, so he put his hand on my lower stomach and waited... then, BAM she give a good kick and he flies up and says, "was that her? I felt something!" So Arturo was able to feel her move for the first time today, now he keeps asking me all day, "Is she moving right now? Can I feel? I'm so jealous you get to feel her move all day!" He is so cute.

Other than the excitement of the baby and all the fun stuff  going on with that, I am getting excited for Halloween to be coming in a few weeks, I think tomorrow I will get out some of my Halloween stuff and decorate the front of the house. Our niece Mikayla also turns 2 on Halloween! Along with Halloween comes Arturo's Brithday the day before, I am a big birthday person so I am looking forward to making the day special for him and having some fun. Now if only this Arizona weather would finally cool down... That would be really nice!

Well thats all I have for now. I will leave you with a picture of Arturo painting the baby's room today.

We are having a...

GIRL!

I just got home from the ultrasound office, and it is official, we are having a little girl! We got a quick look at my doctors office a couple weeks ago but he was not sure, so today we saw much better that there is definitely a little girl in there! We are really excited! We had a feeling all along that it would be a girl so it is fun to know that we were right all along. ha ha!

Update: I have added puctures from the ultrasound.
Yes, she has her feet on her forehead, she is very flexible!

18 Weeks - and Pics of my Belly

Today I am 18 weeks pregnant (almost 1/2 way there)

I had a doctor's appointment this week and everything still looks good! I finally gained some weight - 2 lbs. I had another quick ultrasound and we tried to see if the baby is a boy or girl. We did not get a good look, but we did not see any boy parts. So it could be a girl or just a shy boy who doesn't want to show us the goods. haha! Either way the baby looked great and was moving around a lot, which is part of why we didnt see the sex very well.

I am scheduled to have a routine ultrasound with a radiologist on October 4th (a little over a week from now) since I will be 1/2 way through my pregnancy. They will look at the baby's development, skeletal structure, and organs. This will be a more extensive ultrasound, and it will probably be my last one for the whole pregnancy unless they want to check on the baby again later. We should be able to get a better look at the baby's gender too! So we will (hopefully) know for sure then.

Lately I am still feeling really good thankfully, aside from the fact I am pretty hungry most of the time. I can feel the baby move which is really fun! It is nothing too noticeable, but when I am still and quiet I feel little pokes here and there. As time goes by the pokes have become more noticeable and I think I can also feel when the baby rolls or moves from one side to the other. Arturo is excited for when the baby is bigger and he can feel it too, right now, he cannot feel it from the outside.

Here is a new belly picture. I played around and found a way to put 2 pictures side by side for you to compare and see the change between when I was 12 weeks pregnant and 18 weeks pregnant.

16 weeks

So I am 4 months pregnant now! Here is what we have been up to:
A few weeks ago we cleared out what used to be our home office to prepare to make it into the baby's room. We consolidated our guest room to function as both a guest room and office now. It worked out really well and I think the room turned out great. We will have our first guest in the new guest room next week when Arturo's brother comes into town to visit. I hope he likes it!

Last weekend we discovered that the crib we wanted for the baby went on SALE so call us crazy, but we bought it! We could not pass up the wonderful sale (and the store advised us we got the last one in stock!) Talk about good timing! Arturo was so excited about having the crib he insisted on putting it together that day (even though I think we should wait until we paint) but there was no stopping him! So now the crib and changing table are set up and ready. I have to admit I got excited once he was done putting it together. Something about having a crib made it hit me a bit more that we will have a baby in our house in a few short months. And it is one less thing we need to do later, you all know me, I like to be prepared rather than rushing in the end.

I am officially in my 2nd trimester and still feeling really good. I am lucky to be having a rather easy pregnancy, lets hope it stays that way! As of my last doctors appointment I have still not gained any weight (I am actually down 7lbs from when I first found out I was pregnant) My doctor said I have plenty of time to catch up though. I should start gaining anywhere from 3/4 to 1lb a week as the baby heads towards a big growth spurt in the coming weeks. My pregnancy guide advised in the next 3 weeks the baby will likely DOUBLE in weight and size! I can feel the growth spurt too! My appetite has been growing to feed him /or her. So I am preparing myself to finally see the number on the scale go up a little at my next Doctor's appointment on the 21st of this month.

Speaking of my next doctor's appointment. I am scheduled to have a routine ultrasound to examine the baby's growth, bones, and anatomy. During that ultrasound if the baby behaves we should be able to see if it is a Boy ir Girl. So stay tuned for that update!

Doctor's Appointment Yesterday

I visited the doctor again yesterday (just the regular doctor) for a check up. I actually saw the same doctor that helped my sister deliver my nephew 6 years ago! It was a pretty uneventful appointment other than the fact he had to leave in the middle to go deliver a baby at the hospital accross the street! That was funny! He asked me how my appointments at the specialist went and was happy that they do not need to see me anymore there. He answered some questions I had, and gave me a quick ultrasound just to measure the baby. The baby was VERY active that morning, squirming and wiggling all over the place! Once the baby held still long enough to be measured he said, the baby was measuring right on schedule for my February 28th due date. We listened to the heart beat (nice and strong 167 bpm)

I will go back in 4 weeks. By then I will be 17 weeks and 3 days. They plan to do a routine ultrasound to take a look at the baby's spine and bones to make sure everything is developing as it should AND........ Try to take a look at the gender!!!!!! He said by then the sex organs should be formed enough to tell what it is, but they will only tell me if they are sure they know what it is. So maybe in 4 weeks I will be able to tell you all if we will be having a little BOY or GIRL. Lets hope our little wiggle worm holds still long enough to get a look!

Wanna See My Belly?

Here is a picture of my belly as of 12 weeks.
As I mentioned in my previous entry, I do not look pregnant, just like I have been eating too many cheeseburgers! ha ha!
I will try to post some pictures as time goes on every once in a while so you can see it grow.

12 Weeks 4 Days

We went to see the Specialist again today. I had an ultrasound to check on the baby and take some measurements, had my blood drawn for some genetic testing, and had a consultation with the Doctor. He said the baby looks great and growing right on track. He also reviewed my blood work I had re-done to check my Hemoglobin levels. My hemoglobin on the new blood work was a little lower than the original blood work but still slightly high. But he said the levels are only A LITTLE high, and since I am not experiencing any symptoms, and the baby looks fine, he released me from "high risk" status. He fully expects that I will have a perfectly normal, healthy pregnancy. HORRAY!!!! So I will no longer need to see him. While this is great news I am honesly a little sad because I will not get all the extra ultrasounds like I have been anymore. I will only have one more ultrasoud when I am 21 weeks pregnant which is routine for all pregnancies, in that ultraosund they will just check the baby's growth and hopefully be able to tell if it is a BOY OR GIRL! So mark your calenders! October 19th is the big day!

As for how I am feeling. I am doing pretty good! My nausea is gone and I feel like the 2nd tirmester energy boost everyone talks about is about to kick in and just in time too! I was feeling like a zombie for a while! I am starting to notice my tummy looking a little more pronounced too. I definitely do not look pregnant yet, I think I look like I ate too many cheeseburgers! ha ha! The funny thing is I have actually lost 4 lbs since I found out I was pregnant. My doctor says this is normal because of all the nausea and food aversions in the beginning, but once you start feeling better and eating more you start to gain weight. I am still hooked on eating COLD foods lately too, maybe because it is summer, but a sno-cone sounds really good these days or some ICY COLD lemonade, the colder the better! Mmmm! Other than that, I have not had any "cravings" for anything in partigular.

Here are some pictures from the ultrasound today!

Ultrasound At The Specialist

10 Weeks 4 Days Pregnant:

Today was my appointment with the specialist to check on the baby and talk more about my hemoglobin counts and what it all means. They did my ultrasound first, the tech was awesome! She really made me comfortable and did a great job. You can actually tell it is a baby now! You can see the shapes of the head, body, arms, and legs. The funnest part was when the baby moved on the ultrasound. It was so amazing! It did a little jumping motion and then wiggled a bit. Oh my gosh, it was the best thing EVER! We got to hear the hear beat some more too, I was too excited to catch her say the exact count but I know it was in the 160 bpm range.

After the ultrasound was done the specialist reviewed the ultrasound and my blood work results and talked to us about it. He first said the baby looks PERFECT and HEALTHY! He then asked me about a few things that would justify the high hemoglobin levels on my bloodwork, but nothing he asked me about applied to me or any symptoms I have had. He then said he would like my hemoglobin levels checked again to see if the increased level may have been a false reading because he doesn't see any signs or symptoms that make sense with the high levels on my original bloodwork. He thinks it may have been a false high due to various factors the day my bloodwork was performed. I will go tomorrow to have my blood drawn and he will get back to me with the results. If they are still high, we will need to try and look into what is causing it on a deeper level. If they are normal then they will probably take no further action.

We are so happy and relieved right now since we got to see the baby and see that it is okay and obviously loving life in my belly (judging by the little wiggles and movements).
Here are a few pictures from today's ultrasound! Enjoy!

9 Weeks and an Update

Hey Everyone!
So I am about 9 1/2 weeks pregnant now. I am still feeling pretty good. I had a few weeks there that I felt nautious almost all the time this week the nausea has calmed down and I can actually tolerate eating. The foods that appeal to me right now is anything COLD popsicles, icecream, ice cubes, drinks with lots of ice, I also like nice cold salads. Another food I like is peanut butter, mmm, especially on hot toast so it melts and gets all gooey.
My pants are also starting to get tight on me. I had to buy a "Bella Band" last week. It's this spandex waist belt you can wear over unbuttoned or unzipped pants to hold them in place and help them fit better so you don't have to buy maternity pants. It is the greatest invention ever! I am too small to need maternity pants yet so I am so thankful for the Bella Band right now! I also stay comfortable by wearing sun dresses, they hide my tummy and allow me to breathe since I am not constricted by my pants.
I had a doctor's appointment last week, it was pretty uneventful, they just made sure I was feeling okay and let me hear the baby's heart beat on the doppler. They also reviewed my lab results with me from my initial blood work. They found that my hemoglobin levels were a bit high which in some cases can affect the baby. Hemoglobin is what makes your blood clot, which is normally good, but when you have too much your blood can be a little too thick to circulate properly throught he baby's tiny veins and could potentially clot in the placenta or cord. So I will have additional monitoring throughout the pregnancy to manage my hemoglobin levels and keep an eye on the baby. Because of the extra monitoring I will have another ultrasound this Tuesday August 3rd. I am excited to see how the baby has changed since the last ultrasound a few weeks ago. I am also hoping to get more information on my hemoglobin levels and what they will be keeping an eye on throughout the pregnancy. I will post an update after I see the specialist on Tuesday August 3rd (and probably more ultrasound pictures!)

1st Ultrasound!

We got to have my first ultrasound this morning! It was so fun and exciting!
They of course confirmed I was pregnant, there is only ONE baby in there, and we got to hear and see the heart beating! That was the coolest part, I got a little emotional for a second, seeing and hearing the little life forming in there just made it more real, it also reassured me that everything is going as it should.

By the size of the baby they are thinking I will be due around February 28th, they initially thought maybe February 20th but the ultrasound gives a much better estimate because they can measure how big the baby is. So with that due date it makes me 7 weeks 1 day pregnant.

Today I just saw the ultrasound tech. I go back to the doctor next Wednesday for another consultation.

UPDATE: I have attached a picture of the ultrasound now.

Telling the Family

Again Starting from the beginning, let's talk about how we told my parents the big news. When I found out I was pregnant I didn't rush to tell my parents (should I wait a few weeks? or until I have been to the doctor? what should I do?) As the days went on I was getting anxious (and so was my sister, at this point she was the only one who knew) My parents were getting ready to go out of town for a week to Colorado I either needed to tell them before they left or I was going to have to wait for them to come back.

Then I realized the weekend they were leaving would be Father's Day weekend and I would not get to see my dad on Father's Day so I wanted to go see them and say Happy Father's Day, well I knew I was not going to be able to face them and keep the secret in so I got my dad a very creative Father's Day present to tell him the news. Needless to say they were very excited! My family has been hoping for us to have a baby soon and so have we but we had kept it hush hush that we were trying so it came as a big surprise to them.
Here are some pictures of my parents showing off my Dad's Father's Day Present.

Two Lines!

It has been a few weeks since I actually took a pregnancy test and found out I was pregnant but I think that since I am going to do this blog to chronicle this pregnancy I thought I would start at the beginning.

We were actally trying to get pregnant and it was our second month trying. I was not late for my period yet but would be expecting it in a couple days. Of course since we were trying I had some pregnancy tests in the house some of which were the ones you can take early a few days before your period comes. So I took one, I wasn't expecting to see anything but after a few minutes I saw a very light second line I can't say I felt much in the way of emotion because I have never seen two lines on a pregnancy test, I wasn't even sure they existed. I took a few (okay a lot) more tests and every single one had 2 lines on it!

I called my sister right away I think she was more excited than me, for some reason I was still in disbelief. That night I showed the tests to Arturo at a glance he thought they were negative, but when I had him take a closer look he was so excited, then it became more real and I got really happy. I took another test a few days later and it was a very dark second line this time and then I finally got excited! I guess I needed to see some hard evidence. Ha ha! Here are some pictures of the tests. YAY!

This was the really light one, but you can see the second line.

And here is the dark one. The plus sign showed up before the test even finished developing all the way.
